Your first project
Your first project
A project is the place your team captures intent, does the work, and keeps proof. You create it from the picker, then fill it from its main screen.
Create the project
On Projects, click New project.
- Start in Rinkata: create a project without a repository. You can add Knowledge, capture ideas and plan work right away.
- GitHub repo: pick a repository the Rinkata GitHub App can access.
- Local path: use an existing working directory for local context.
Name is required. Description and callsign (a short tag like HUB) are optional. Click the new tile to open the project. Joining an existing project starts here too. Leftover test projects are archived from Admin. Type the name, then Accept. Hub hides them now and permanently deletes them later rather than deleting them from the tile.
Get Started with project context
New users see Get Started inside their project. Take its three steps in any order. Dismiss hides the cards; Get Started in the footer (or phone header) resumes them. The Tour stays available on demand (Footer on desktop; the avatar menu on phone).
For an empty project, Add project context opens Knowledge’s existing upload picker. Upload a brief or notes, or drop a document on Knowledge. You can file it in an area or leave it in Unfiled; creating an area is optional.
For a populated project, Explore your project’s Knowledge takes you to what your team already knows. Existing usable documents count as project context. Exploring them is your own step.
Wait for usable text before extracting ideas. Search indexing can finish later. If processing fails, open Knowledge to retry or try another file. Skip for now and manual idea capture remain available. If an action is unavailable, follow the explanation and use an allowed alternative; planning can continue.
Capture intent on Ideas
Open Ideas. Type a thought and press Enter, or extract from a document, paste a list, or dictate.
With usable project context, Extract your first idea saves ideas from a selected document. Review your ideas shows the saved batch with its source links. Open one to develop it. Empty results and failed saves do not count; partial results offer a retry for only the unsaved ideas.
Write my own uses normal idea capture. A saved manual idea counts as your first idea, even if you skipped context. Setup still needs usable Knowledge.
Ideas is ideation until ready. Nothing becomes a Goal, spec, or ticket until you develop it and promote it.
Promotion lands on Work as a commitment. The idea stays as a record of where the work came from.
Work the loop
Work is commitments in flight. It has three sections:
- Needs attention: decisions only a human can make. Accept, Reject, or Retire covering work…
- In progress: claimed work that's moving.
- Ready to start: safe to pick up, for you or an agent.
Click a row to open a drawer. Approve a drafting spec before its tickets can start. If intent moved, related work waits until you say what to do.
Finish on Complete
Done work shows up on Complete with evidence, tests, screenshots, links. Nothing is complete without proof. A human Accept on Complete is extra confidence, not a gate.
Knowledge starts and closes the loop
Knowledge is documentation. Seed Ideas from a document, then develop and promote when ready. After Complete, write what you now know back into an area so the next loop starts from deployed work.
Connect an agent
Connect when you’re ready to work with an agent. Connect an agent opens Settings, where the existing connection guides and controls live. You can capture, explore and develop ideas before connecting.
Opening Settings or copying a key does not complete this step. Ask your connected agent to open this project. Its first successful authenticated project request verifies the connection. The card says Agent connected to this project; a teammate’s verified connection can satisfy this shared milestone too.
Setup is ready when the project has usable Knowledge, a verified agent connection, and you have saved an idea. Dismissed, skipped and completed stay distinct. If project context is later removed, current readiness changes while your historical completion is retained.
From Settings, connect Claude, Cursor, Grok, or ChatGPT. Ask them in plain language: "what's ready to start?", "capture an idea called X", "what's on Needs attention?"
They read and write the same project you see on screen.
Add a repository when you need code
A repository is optional for planning. When you start a ticket in a project without a repository, choose Start without a repository for research or writing. For code work, connect an existing repository or Start a new repository. Create on GitHub opens the GitHub homepage in a new tab. Create your account and repository there, then return to Hub, select the repository and review the connection. Grant the Rinkata GitHub App access if the repository is not listed. Continue planning returns to the project without a connection.
